Hi, When pwnagetool goes through its motions, it brings up three choices of restored files, non of them is iphone1,2 2.2 5g77 restore.ipsw. Nor does it save any of these files to iphone1,2 2.2 5g77 restore.ipsw. I've even downloaded this file ( iphone1,2 2.2 5g77 restore.ipsw. ) form the net, and placed it in the same folder, and pwnagetool does not see it to choose. I suppose I'm doing something wrong, or mis-intrepting the instructions.
thanks, bythisname |

I used the latest version of pwnagetool and it created the proper file, but when I press restore with alt/option nothing happens that allows me to use the restored file, it simply restores to my previous iphone settings.
Thanks |

I just moved to australia..suprise suprise Apple won't unlock my phone. So if I'm going to jailbreak it should I be running the most current iPhone software (2.2.1) or the one previous? or does it matter at all? I had a friend to did this and said you had to be one step behind software-wise to stay unlocked. I'd like to know before I try. thanks!

Hi,
I've just followed your instructions and got the message that I'd successfully 'unlocked' my phone...I was hoping after all that that I'd jailbroken it. I bought the phone (prepaid) from Optus and had already unlocked it and had been using my 3 sim card. So in theory it shouldnt need to be unlocked again...right? Now I have restored/synced the phone and it doesn't look any different. I also can't find the pineapple icon. Could you please help me? S Quote:

Hello again,
I realised I made a mistake on the last step and went through the entire process again. However, when I press alt/option and the restore button on itunes a finder folder opens and aske me to choose a file (you didn't mention this step). Hope you can help! S |

I installed OS. 3.1.2 usuing Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 on Mac OS 10.6.2 using iTunes 9.0.2. This was the most seemless install for me yet. No errors. I created the custom .ipsw (firmware) using Pwnage and installed the .ipsw using iTunes. I did not have to enter DFU mode. I turned off Pwnage Tool after the custom .ipsw was created, connected the iPhone (Original iPhone), clicked on the Restore button while holding the option key, selected the custom .ipsw and let it run. No F*cking Pineapples and I didn't have to dance naked in front of a goat this time.
